A Capriccio
In a musical score, A Capriccio (ah-kah-PREE-choh) is a directive to play a passage in a frivolous and unpredictable manner. This might involve taking liberties with dynamics or tempo, and/or taking a playful, improvisational approach to the melody and the passage as a whole. In a casting, A Capriccio indicates unpredictability, capriciousness, or frivolity. It may be that whats at hand cannot be depended upon, or is subject to whim; or, it may be that whats at hand requires a lighter touch, or a straying from the tried and true.
